Happy birthday Janet. More and more are joining that club. It's just a number.

Although no one has mentioned it, it's unlikely I am the only Covid survivor of our class. A very mild case ,testing positive on Chistmas eve.

Jan and I decided last March to continue with our normal lives as much as possible. Accordingly we did not quarantine from each other and she never got it. It was a boring 14 days for her especially.  However it certainly beat the alternatives.

The thinking leading to our decisions is that our time grows shorter so we did not wish to waste it hunkered down, not seeing our family or friends. We tried not to be foolhardy . I likely caught it at the tennis club.

My hope is that all who read this are in great health for our years.

Curious to know if people are getting vaccinated.  It's so difficult to get an appointment here that I kind of gave up for a while but it is on my to do list.  I spent most of the worst of New York City last year in Puerto Vallarta Mexico where it was pretty easy to avoid people once all the tourists left!  And the weather was fantastic.  I came back to New York in mid June when things here were much more manageable.  I am very grateful to have been healthy all this time and have everything I need.  Very sad for all the people who have been suffering in so many ways however.  I firmly believe that better days are ahead.  So glad you got through your Covid bout, George, apparently without any dire long term problems, and hope the rest of our class is managing as well.

Hello all,

I received my first Covid vaccination shot and am awaiting the second.  Only side effect to first one was a sore arm for less than 24 hours.  I know people who had unpleasant side effects from the second one, i.e. chills, fever, nausea for 1-3 days and others who experienced a mild headache.  A third group had no side effects whatsoever.  My daughter-in-law is a global health specialist so we are following her recommendations to be vaccinated.  Last March I resigned my position at the Smithsonian and the Folger to move to Ohio to be near our son and grandson.  This occured just in time for things to essentially shut down.  Not knowing our neighbors enhanced the feeloings of isolation but we have managed and are very much looking forward to socializing again.  Knowing several people who have succumbed to this plague made us more cautious but I can definitely claim "corona fatigue".  That being said, we are more aware of our blessings and the things we should no loner take for granted.  Stay well all.

My wife and I received our 2nd shot on Tuesday Feb. 2.  All of our friends in West Palm Beach are getting vaccinated.

Am happy to hear that those who responded are getting vaccinated for the most part. I was going to get a shot ASAP until I read an article written in a medical journal by a cardiologist. He offered some anecdotal evidence of a number of covid survivors who got vaccinated almost immediately after regaining health. Some of those who already had identified heart disease wound up with some very dangerous lung and heart complications, blood clots among them. Thus I decided to wait to get the vaccine. ---- Jan had only the sore deltoid after shot 1. ---- Pennsylvania has been a nightmare for senior citizens who do not own or operate a computer. They have  needed family or friends to sign them up. Also the pharmacist who injected Jan remarked that the sign up nightmare has been exacerbated by the pharmacy never knowing ahead of delivery just how many doses they will get. An acquaintance of mine and two friends made appointments two hours west of Harrisburg. After making the drive , there was only one dose available and two were put on a waiting list. ---- It is no secret that I am far right politically. A tennis buddy is way left. This vaccination screw up here in PA has united us in anger against our state government. He has a buddy in Georgia who has received 8 official calls , the object of which was to get him signed up for vaccination. Even his pharmacist has called. --- PA signup sc rrw up is unacceptable.

Hi Everyone, I'm in Ojai, California for the winter, my 7th winter here. Two weeks ago I got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. The only reaction I had was a sore arm the next day and some fatigue, which I think may have been more the result of anxiety about getting the shot than the vaccine. I'm due to get dose No. 2 on the 15th. I've been keeping busy making ceramics, doing some design work and drawing a Doodle of the Day that I post to Facebook and Instagram. I started last March, so now there are over 300 of them and they've gotten pretty political. I feel lucky to live in such beautiful places. Am relieved that Biden won and the new administration is functioning as rational adults not clowns climbing out of the clown car over and over although there are still some opportunistic conspiracists trying to poison Congress. Also thankful that all three of my daughters and their families have weathered the pandemic unscathed...so far. Some of you know that I'm also a writer and I keep thinking no one needs to write another dystopian novel ever again. We're living one.

Hi All,
Had my first shot of Moderna on Jan. 23rd. Get my second Feb 19th. First was easy peasey.   Next day tetanus like upper arm soreness. The more I moved it the less soreness there was.
 By mid day no effects.

I know the second effects people differently. So I will be prepared. My husband gets his 1st on Wednsday. We both got our appts thru Publix online. Easy, no. But since we have it, can't complain. They do need to fix a few issues people are having.

Hope all are doing well. Our times are exceptionally erratic, so hold fast, good times are coming.

I had my second shot and had ALL of the symptoms for 2 1/2 days and then it just disappeared.  To me it was well worth it.

The one thing I sincerely hope for is that we can not make this a political forum as I enjoy reading all the news of fellow classmates.

for those who are TV watchers  have you seen Wynona Earp?  On Sci Fi?   In its 4th season, it is my sons show, as is on Sunday nights,PBS, 8:00   Miss Scarlett and The Duke.  He is a producer and exec producer. Todd Berger.  Proud of him.

Jan loves Miss Scarlett. Good to be proud of family accomplishments.--- Will be passing info regarding second shot to her and other friends who are headed for shot #2.-----  Differing body chemistry differing results. ---- Some are better at following directions too. Personally am not a good follower. Like to push the envelope. Having yet another garden variety skin cancer removed from left temple near eye in April. Requires a different surgery. Not supposed to drive or do activity for a day or two. Probably will do both , depending on degree of swelling. If it's too bad I ' ll pass on driving.

My husband had his first Moderna shot this morning. Hopefully all be ok.
A friend of ours had her second shot. She has all the adverse symptoms. 100.8 fever, aches, headache, nausea and a sore arm. Her husband had similar, but way less intense. She doesn't ever remember ever feeling this badly. I have read that the protocol is take the Tylenol or Ibuprofen, check with your Dr. first. This is on the CDC website.
My second is next Friday.
After that, I will wait a month and get my 2nd Shringrix Shot. That too should be a doozy. I think I am more afraid of getting shingles than covid.
So all of you who haven't  had the SHINGRIX vaccine, contact your Dr regarding if you should get it.

Stay healthy my CHS companions.  We are all in this together.

For something I'm writing about my mother's life:  Does any of you remember a professional caterer who worked in Cheltenham Township around the time we were in high school and, no doubt, before and after?  Her last name, as I recall, was Singleton.  She was a Black woman in her 40s or 50s, possessed considerable authority, drove a Cadillac, perhaps a blue Eldorado, and catered at least a a couple of large dinner parties for my parents and, I would guess, for some of yours.  Anything you can remember about her, however vague, would be very helpful.    Thanks.

Had my second Pfizer shot on Wednesday andno. symptoms other than a typically sore arm for 24 hours.  Everyone I know whohas had moderna has had flu like symptoms for 36-48 hours.  I must be one ofthe lucky ones.  Now if we could only find vaccine for my husband.

In about an hour and 15 minutes, I will be receiving my 2nd Moderna shot at Publix.

Just finished making Matzah Ball soup with chicken, carrots, celery and garlic. Lot of fresh ground pepper. Just in case I won't feel like cooking, my husband John Will have something good to eat for the next two days. It will make me feel better too.

I understand those who have had the 2nd Pfizer had nary any after effects. Moderna, most have, some not, but few.  Hope I will be one of the few.
John finally got an appt and had his first last week at a different Publix. He didn't even feel it.  No sore arm either. Asked him, if there was any vaccine in the syringe😂😂.

Will try to report back after a couple of days.

S☀️🎾

After registering with everyone possible in Bucks County we finally got the call and got our first Maderna last Tuesday. Minimum side affects. 4 weeks to second shot. It has been difficult for us to get around with all the snow and the fact that I am usually confined to a wheelchair. It has been challenging to say the least. I don't know if it's the cancer or the chemo. The oncologist stopped the chemo because it was doing more harm than good. I tell everyone the same thing. Don't feel sorry for me. My entire life has been charmed. I am at peace with whatever happens. I hope you all stay safe and well.

In response to Henry's question, no caterer comes to mind. However I did meet your mother, Henry , and your father over the years . Your mother was a lovely woman. It seemed she remained quite active in her later years. I would also  like to mention that I disagree  there should be a moratorium on commenting on how we find the world today. I have the fondest memories of teachers at EP Jr. High and then at CHS who encouraged us to have an open mind and to hear opinions of an opposing point of view. Yes, it's great to hear from people about their vaccine reactions , where they live , etc. but I would also like to hear what classmates are thinking [ in moderation ] if anyone wants to comment on the world situation.....
