During the early 1960's a small group of kids from Wyncote, from streets with poetic names (Longfellow, Poe, Evergreen), not far from the "new" Cheltenham High, became friends. We met daily to walk to and from school, hung out at Seka's driving range, wandered around the new mall at Cheltenham and Ogontz, and met, almost religiously, at Kathy Culkin's house to watch Saturday Night at the Movies. Kathy's mom welcomed us, and Kathy became host. It wasn't until middle age that I realized the impact that Kathy, Bob Pflaumer, Peggy Marble, Jim Sloan, Gail Paterson, Nancy Wasson and Dot Holden had on my life. At 78, I'm greatful to have been so Blessed. It was a shock to see Kathy's name in our "Memories" section; I had tried several times to find her, and some of the others, to no avail. But, like those of you who read and reflect on why we are the way we are 60 years later, I'll offer a thought - people like Kathy Culkin added some of the good that we carry in our hearts.
