I met Marlene Schatz at Thomas Williams Junior High School.  We became best friends and enjoyed shopping, movies, sleep-overs, etc.  She was sweet, kind and funny...and was a very talented artist.  Marlene was an only child and loved spending time at my house with my 3 sisters.  Her father knew someone connected with American Bandstand and was able to get us tickets to dance on the show.  The regular dancers were not fond of outsiders & tried to push us away from the camera.  In spite of this, my mother saw us dancing on TV.  I remember Marlene's Sweet 16 at The Latin Casino - Johnny Mathis was the entertainment.

She passed away at age 32.  I thank G-d she lived long enough to have a wonderful husband and family.  I have wonderful memories of our friendship.

Marli and i met when she moved across the street.  At that time we had little in common, but occationally hung out.  It wasn't until we were each married and overlapped lives in Philadelphia that we watched the other mature and shared more.   She was a nurturing mother  and a child of the 60"s at the same time. Marli knew how to have fun,  adventures and excitement. She  loved going to concerts.  Marli was uncomplaining about illness and so it came as a shock when she died so young.  Her daughter and son sorely missed out in not continuing to receive her tremendous love for them.  And I missed out on a friend.
