After so many years of not interacting with Sam, my memory of him seems more like a characture than salute; for those of us who knew and liked him, a few adjectives will hopefully paint an admittedly incomplete picture: anxious but poinient, considerate but scattered, ambitious but humble, trustworthy and self-effacing. There was an ever present cigarette, a skinny boy driving a gigantic, crowded car (almost in control) and a hesitant brilliance that was tempered by a desire to please others. Complicated, yes. Caring, yes. Good, Yes.

Hopefully, Sam is at peaceful rest, not smoking and driving carefully, with that small smile that is derived from self-assurance via self actualization.
