Fred was a good and truly tough guy. We maintained our friendship until his untimely death. He married a Mennonite girl who objected to the Vietnam war. When he was drafted , out of respect for her, Fred chose alternative service and drove an 80 mile roundtrip each day serving at Byberry Hospital. Depression is a terrible disease which claimed his life way too soon. I lost a great friend but am still in contact with his widow, Lois. ---- George Trapp
